Frequently Asked Questions

All our services are exclusively private.
We offer signature experiences, bespoke adventures, transport options, and special event charters across Bruny Island. Our signature experience is the Bruny Island Wild Long Lunch - a 5 hour experience combining boat transport, water exploration, chef-prepared long table lunch at Bruny Island Wild, and beach time at Nebraska Beach. We also run Iron Pot Cruises (up to 6 passengers) and Channel Cruises (up to 8 passengers) as standalone water experiences.
Beyond these, we create custom adventures island-wide based on what you'd like to experience - whether that's exploring specific locations, wildlife watching, or combining activities across North and South Bruny. We also provide bespoke transport solutions and can arrange special event charters for occasions that need something unique.
-
For our signature experiences, we depart from Kettering, Tasmania or Barnes Bay on Bruny. This keeps logistics simple and pricing straightforward. If you have a specific request, we can work with you to arrange pickup from other locations between Hobart and Kettering, including Tinderbox Jetty, Dru Point at Margate, or the Hobart waterfront (weather dependent). Keep in mind that different departure points will affect timing and cost, which we'll discuss when you enquire.
-
We bring you directly to North Bruny Island on our 8 passenger commercial vessel, which means no car needed and no ferry queues. In peak season, ferry times can skyrocket to hours, making this service invaluable, especially for daytrippers.
The boat journey itself is a beautiful part of the experience, with opportunities to see wildlife and explore waters around North Bruny's northern coastline.

We work on an enquiry-only basis so we can understand what you're after and make sure we're the right fit for your group. Get in touch through our website or social media, tell us a bit about what you're hoping to experience, and we'll take it from there. This approach lets us personalise each adventure and answer any questions before you commit.
Upon confirmation, a 20% deposit is required up front to secure your booking.

Our maritime experiences take up to 9 guests on the boat - but 8 is our preferred number so we can provide a local host and a skipper. For land-based tours using our buses, we can accommodate larger groups up to 39 people. Group size affects which experiences work best, so we'll talk through options when you enquire.
-
Each experience is priced to reflect what's included, itinerary and group size. Our Bruny Island Wild Long Lunch starts at $500pp.
Our standalone water tours - both the Iron Pot Cruise (up to 6) and Channel Cruise (up to 8) - are $1,500 flat rate. For bespoke adventures, transport solutions, and special event charters, we provide custom quotes based on your specific needs and requests. Get in touch and we'll work through the details together.
-
Dress for conditions on the water - it's always colder out there than on land. Bring wet weather gear and very warm layers, even if the forecast looks mild. We recommend clothing you can layer up or peel off as needed. Wear shoes that are stable and easy to walk in, preferably closed toed. Beyond that, we'll let you know if there's anything specific to pack based on your chosen experience when you book.
-
Children are welcome, though we find our signature Long Lunch experience isn't ideal for young kids - it's a 5 hour day with extended water time and a sit-down dining component. That said, every family knows their children best, and we're happy to discuss options that might work better for your group. We can create bespoke adventures tailored to families, with activities and timing that suit younger passengers.
For any water-based experience, please dress children warmly (it's always colder on the water) and feel free to get in touch before booking to talk through weather conditions and what the day will look like with kids onboard.
-
We work hard to make our boat experiences accessible where we can. Kettering Marina and Barnes Bay have floating jetties that are easily accessible for most people who are able to walk - getting on and off the boat is straightforward at these locations. We're unable to accommodate wheelchairs, but if you have mobility considerations and can walk, these departure points work well.
Other departure options like Tinderbox, Dennes Point, and Margate jetties require guests to be fully able-bodied due to the jetty access. If you have specific accessibility needs or questions, get in touch and we'll talk through what will work best for your situation.

Stuck due to weather disruptions? If documented weather events (like flight cancellations, ferry closures, or road closures) prevent you from reaching Bruny Island, contact us immediately. We'll provide a deposit full refund once we verify the disruption. This covers weather preventing your travel to us, not general poor weather at the destination.
If we need to cancel: Safety comes first. If weather or sea conditions are unsafe, we'll work with you to reschedule to a time that suits you. Can't find a new time that works? You'll receive a full refund of your deposit.
The same applies if we need to cancel due to mechanical issues, crew unavailability, or other operational reasons—full refund of deposit or the option to reschedule.
