Bruny Island,

off the beaten path

At Islander, we're not here to rush you through attractions. we're here to connect you to place, people and story. With small private groups, authentic connections, and deep local roots, we create experiences that uncover the real Bruny.

Signature Experience

Sea, land and table private experience
Departing from Kettering, Tasmania or Barnes Bay, North Bruny

Bruny Island Wild
Long Lunch

This experience works two ways: visitors to Southern Tasmania can skip the car and ferry entirely with pickup from Kettering, or guests already staying on Bruny can join from Barnes Bay.

While this is our signature itinerary, we're completely flexible—we can adjust the day to suit your group's interests and needs.

Your time on the water takes you through the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and up into the mouth of the Derwent River, with a pass by Tasmania's first lighthouse at Iron Pot. Where we linger longest is guided by the weather and what the day offers.

Following your water experience, the heart of the day is lunch at Bruny Island Wild—an architecturally designed space perched on the water's edge, where chef Ray Jones prepares seasonal dishes using ingredients sourced from the island and surrounding region.

Afterward, you'll have time to view exhibitions at brunyNORTH gallery and explore the beaches and coastlines of North Bruny on foot.

Never rushed, never crowded - and truly authentic.

Private boat tours

Departing from Barnes Bay, Bruny Island or Kettering, Tasmania

$1500 flat rate
Up to 8 passengers
Approx 1.5 hours

Journey through the D'Entrecasteaux Channel — the sheltered waterway connecting Bruny to mainland Tasmania — and north into the mouth of the Derwent, where Tasmania's first lighthouse has stood sentinel at Iron Pot since 1832. You'll take in coastal perspectives that explain why this stretch of coastline shaped Tasmania's story, and see the island's geography from an angle most people never get. Ideal for guests staying on Bruny or groups of visitors to Southern Tasmania who want a unique, private maritime experience.
